Paradise Pup in Des Plaines

Came in to eat. Food was excellent.

Last time I was here I got the Paradise Pup, this time I got the Char Pup. Get the Char Pup. Perfectly balanced with a grilled dog, soft fresh poppy seed bun, and all of the traditional Chicago dog toppings.All of the locals were going with the Char Burger, and for good reason. Merkt's Cheddar burger is a good choice too.I had to try the raspberry milk shake with fresh raspberry and I'm glad I did, it was very good.Their three layer fries with sour cream, melted cedar, and bacon is popular but looks deadly. I wanted to try them but my cardiologist wouldn't let me.

We got to the restaurant at 1055 and there were already 10 people lined up to order when they opened at 11. We ordered a Paradise Pup (Chicago style dog) and Mertz Burger and split a side of fries. The food was ready in less than 10 min..... While we waited, a Significant Line formed at the order window which speaks to the restaurant’s reputation. The line stemmed to move fairly quickly. The Paradise Pup was appointed with typical Chicago style fare and pickled hot peppers and was quite delicious. The burger came on a fresh baked delicious bun. The crinkle cut fries were piping hot and perfectly salted. We spent $16 for 2. We really enjoyed this stop as we passed through Chicago. Would recommend!

The burgers were great! Will stop by again if we're in the neighborhood

This place is exactly what you need for a pit stop on a beautiful, warm day. The food takes a little time to come out, which isn't a problem at all so BE PATIENT! It's worth the small wait because it's freshly cooked.The food itself is tasty. Albeit a bit messy, but isn't all good food supposed to be messy? No overpowering flavors, perfectly salted fries and delicious soda to go with it at a very reasonable price.Definitely stop by here. Not much parking, but it seems you can park across the street. Definitely coming back here. :)

Fantastic char taste combined with the Merkts Cheddar. I eat a lot of hamburgers and this was one of the best.

Great place for a Chicago Dog or a burger. Their specialty is the char burger and char dog which are just as they sound, grilled with a nice char on the surface, like those you cook on a camping trip only better. The cheddar burger is old school messy, juicy, gooey awesomeness on a grilled bun. Chicago dogs and Italian beef are great too. It's a fairly small place (800 Sqft) with a few indoor bar style seats and a few seats outside. Staff are very friendly and are happy to make recommendations. This place is very popular so be prepared to wait a bit but it will be well worth the wait. For more info, do a Google search on the Diners Drive-Ins and Dives video of this place. One of my absolute favorite places anywhere. I have been coming to Paradise Pup since 1988 and have never had a bad meal. I get the teriyaki chicken sandwich and three layer fries, but, my wife and kids get the burgers and shakes those are awesome as well. Food is always very fresh and delicious. I will also say that the owners are some of the nicest people you can meet. They know many of the customers by name and you can tell that they genuinely appreciate their customers and the business they bring. You cannot go wrong eating here.

I often take my friends to this restaurant with my highest recommendations. I visit this restaurant often. This recommendation is always successful. The meals are great and the team is very friendly and cooperative. Whenever we visit this place we pass a gorgeous evening. I recommend this place with pleasure.

I passed through this place for a while and i always saw the place packed. I decided it was time to give it a try. First thing i noticed was that none of the employees wore masks, but its been pretty hot and they technically work outside, i was trying to be understanding. Prices are alright, but once i tried the food, it was very bland and disappointimg. Not going to be coming back.

From its name "Paradise" when you have the char burger you will feel like you are in paradise. I would confidently say that this is the best place in Illinois to have burgers.I just love this place and I really like the staff and the owners, they are so nice!Keep up the good work!

Stumbled across this place while out and about. There's a reason the line was long (other than social distancing). The food was fantastic and reasonably priced! I had the bacon cheddar burger and onion rings. So darned good!

Pricy but tasty burgers. Nicely done. Moist and wet burgers, nice toppings. Small parking lot which holds 10 cars.

Definitely this place highly recommend recommend it, they have amazing char burger get them maker cheddar burger with caramelized onions is so juicy and a fresh burger,You need to try their layers of fries which is bacon sour cream and fries is absolutely insane,One of my favorite spots to have a good burger

First time trying them out. Got the Merkt’s Cheddar Char Burger. Disappointed...burger was ok...bun tasted stale. I think they microwaved one that had been previously cooked.

This place is over hyped. I was told to try this place, cause they're known for their burgers, but it wasn't worth it. Lacks service, very busy, and not clean at all. THIS PLACE DOES NOT FOLLOW COVID-19 GUIDELINES! Saw 5 employees and only 1 was wearing a mask while cooking burgers... People were not 6 ft apart, and it was very unappealing. There are WAY better burger places than this place!

Best burgers and grilled hot dogs anywhere! I'll travel 45 minutes in traffic to eat here! During good weather prepare for a wait since lines go out the door. Believe me when I say it's worth the wait. Food is made fresh to order, staff is friendly and hard working. A definite must go to spot.There is a small counter inside to cozy up to to eat ( key word: cozy) or there are picnic tables outside. I'll happily sit in my heated car in the winter months for a meal here!Enjoy!

So good you forget to take a photo. Haha. I enjoy the 1/3 merkts cheddar burger and a side of cheddar fries. They have a cherry drink that's delicious as well. Reasonably priced a d worth the sometimes long lines.

My choice for best burger in the Chicagoland area, also outstanding Italian beef. Never too busy to justify the wait, anytime you are near O'Hare airport it is a must. Do yourself a favor, make it a priority! I swear your life will be happier 🍔😁🍔😁🍔😁🍔😁🍔😁🍔

BEST CHICAGO DOG IVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. I do alot of work around the chicago aera, i try to find the best hot dog places i can. Paradise pup defines what a chicago dog is. They put all other hot dog places to shame. If youre a chicago dog aficionado, paradise pup will be your new home. Never in my life have i seen so much love put into one dog. These guys are the hot dog gods. Look in the picture, they take a whole pickle, cut a portion of it out so its not overwhelming, but you get all the skin, makes for an amazing crunch, like i said. A dog like no other with mass amounts of love. Youll never see that anywhere else. If you do, there copying.

In my opinion overpriced and overhyped. The food it okay but for the price definitely not worth it. The burger was better than the Italian beef. All in all will not be back.

Had a great experience in here with my girlfriend. The food came rapidly and the service is just awesome. Prices are fair.

Found this establishment to be exactly what I expect... great non-chain experience! We get tired of the main chains and always look for the hometown flavor and flare. Paradise Pup delivers. The dogs, burgers, and fries were very good. Absolutley worth the wait and will be back when in town again.

I asked for it well done and it had a bloody center smh. Also the employees had no masks. But more importantly my burger was bloody!!

I go to this special restaurant many times because I enjoy the special air that is characterizes this restaurant. The staff is highly welcoming and skilfull. The service is impressively quick. Most important, the food they prepare is outstanding. I frequent many times and I was never disappointed. The pay is modest. I highly recommend this place to to all.

Came into town from Cincinnati for the weekend and this was at the top of my list of places to try. The Italian Beef was everything I'd hoped it would be and more. The giardiniera and sweet peppers perfectly complimented the sandwich. The Char-Polish sausage was among the best I've had. The sauteed onions are absurdly delicious. My 2 friends both got Italian Beefs and Char-Burgers and raved about them as well as the cheddar fries. So glad I was able to check this off of my culinary checklist. Will return as soon as possible. Excellent job!

I was told that this is the best burger joint in Chicago, so I had to give it a try as Ive been on the hunt for the best burger for years. I had hopes that I had finally found the holy grail but i was left disappointed. The charcoal taste is pretty unique and the rye bread gives it a different angle from other traditional burgers. Although good, its not the best. Also the cash only policy is quite an inconvenience.

Nice little joint in Des Plaines, amazing burger. Must try their Cheddar and Bacon burger. Fast service, nice people.

Burgers are not bad at all. The worst part is that this place is cash only. In today's world that does not work as I practically never visit bank to withdraw cash. So I rarely visit this place. Perhaps they will adjust to today's world.

One of my favorite spots. Their burgers are simple but has an incredible taste. I like to accompany the char American burger with a side of fries and a large black cherry drink. As well as the food being amazing so is the service. These guys are great. You won't be disappointed here.

Had the Italian Beef and sausage Combo. Epic lunch. 10/10. Highly recommend.

Went to Paradise Pup with my boys and we all enjoyed our meals We've been driving by and were always put off by the line but it moves fairly quickly. It is also worth the wait. We got the cheddar char burgers and 3 layer fries; best burgers we have had in a while! Their online menu is a bit out of date (higher prices) and they do accept card payment. Next trip, we are trying their Paradise Pups! Can't wait!

I had the third pound char Merkt's Cheddar Burger and a large order of fries. I ate it there. It was very good. I want to go back to try one of their beefs. I've heard great things.

Don't miss the opportunity to stop in it is by far the tastiest hot dog stand that I've been to,,Cheddar cheese makes it on the burgers . French fries are just the way you expect them to be, don't be surprised by the long line just about anytime you go. Be patient and hope for a good day that you can use the outside seating

I love the burgers here, imo they're one of the best. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get. I'm not a dog guy, I've tried the Paradise pub, but could live w/o it, it's just ok for me. You should definitely try the Original Oreo Shake, it's a treasure find!

This place has the best food in Illinois if not the country. I’ve had almost everything on the menu and have no complaints. I recommend the char pup, three layer fries and bacon cheddar burger!!!! The guys are super friendly on top of the great food.

Old school charred burger, crinkle fries salted perfectly, onion rings that are perfectly easy to bite through, and happy kids!
